How to Get Rid of Wrinkles
Ageing gracefully is a part of life, as well as accepting what we can and cannot change as we get older. But when it comes to the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, you’d be surprised to know there’s a lot you can do to help minimize these.
Spotting the signs of ageing
The first signs of ageing can appear as early as 25. Fine lines, known as laughter lines or crow’s feet, start to appear at the corners of the eyes in our 30s. Lack of sleep – Your skin’s ability to repair itself is highest at night, which is yet another reason why getting your eight hours a night is so important.
Poor nutrition – If you’re not getting enough antioxidants, then you may experience faster aging as they help neutralize free radicals.
Can wrinkles be reversed? How to reduce wrinkles
The short answer is no, not in any permanent way. Ageing is a natural process that continues whether we like it or not. That being said, here are the most effective ways to prevent and even significantly reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines:
Avoid the sun – The best way to do this is to keep away from direct sunlight as much as possible. You’ll also want to apply a few layers of broad-spectrum SPF throughout the day. Not just on sunny days, UV rays can still penetrate clouds on overcast days. Sunglasses, light-reflective clothing, and a broad-brimmed hat are all wardrobe essentials.
Dial down on stress – Go for a nice walk once a day. Take a yoga class. Take a relaxing bath. Give yourself a spa day or meditate. Whatever your preferred form of self-care, taking a few minutes of self-care every day can help release some of life’s tension.
Eat well – A diet rich in antioxidants and vitamins provides your skin with a natural cocktail of free radical suppressants. Think blueberries, avocado, sweet potato, salmon, and bell peppers.
