Celebrating Valentine’s Day

No matter what your relationship status

Whether you’re a die-hard romantic or a cynical singleton, you can’t really avoid Valentine’s Day! It’s become another landmark occasion in the diary and if you’re currently in a relationship or not, it may not necessarily be your cup of tea. We’re not all into hearts and flowers, chocolates and cuddly toys! That doesn’t mean to say that you can’t still have a bit of fun and celebrate the day as a “holiday”!

Valentine’s day shouldn’t just be reserved for all the lovers!

How about practicing some self-love if you’re single or doing some small little acts of kindness for your partner, a friend or even a stranger on the 14th of February. It doesn’t always have to be about grand gestures. Little things can quite often mean the most. So whether you’re hanging out with your bae this year, with a group of friends, your BFF or looking forward to some much need “you” time,  it doesn’t really matter.

V-Day falls on a Thursday so chances are you’ll have work the next morning and won’t be painting the town red! Champagne hangovers are the best and the worst! Traditional dinner dates have their place and who doesn’t love being wined and dined but what about doing something a bit more low key or unique for a change? Something that you can enjoy with or without a partner in crime?

From pampering to just chilling, a night at the movies or taking an art class! My advice is to celebrate this famous day of love doing something that you love and that simply makes you feel glad to be alive.

Here’s just a couple of ideas that the team at My Perfect Cosmetics company came up with this year. Maybe one of these will be your ideal way to spend the 14th?

1.Try a wine-and-dine movie theater experience. Watching your favourite films on the big screen whilst sitting in cosy seating and supping a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Sounds like my kind of a movie night!

2.How about an evening of jazz and cocktails? Perfect if you are in a couple or something cool to do with friends.

3.What about a touch of stargazing? This could be a great first Valentine’s date. A night at a planetarium sounds so romantic. Or just grab a blanket and a bottle of your favourite wine and watch the sunset or sunrise. Just don’t forget your phone. It’s going to be one of those Instagram moments!

4.Just hang out at home and turn your bathroom into a Zen-like retreat. Again, partner optional! Depending on the size of your bathtub! Who doesn’t love bubbles with bubbles!

5.Been in a relationship now for a while? How about you recreate your first ever date?  Unless it was a total disaster! If that’s the case, then re-enact one of your favourite early dates. One where you suddenly realised that they were “the one”. There’s nothing like a trip down memory lane to stoke the old fire!

6.Treat your other half to breakfast in bed. Get up early and whip up something tasty before your partner heads off to work. Pretend like your bedroom is a boutique hotel.

7.Get hot and sweaty together with a couples workout. The couple that exercises together stays together right? Maybe you won’t persuade them to try out your hot yoga class but perhaps you can both do circuits together?

8.Book in for a mixology lesson. A great way to spend an evening regardless of your relationship status plus you’ll learn how to mix up your favourite cocktails and might meet some fun people too.

9.Get your friends round for a game night. Poker, Blackjack, Cards Against Humanity, Snap!! In a relationship? Maybe spice things up a bit and make that a game of strip poker!

10.Have a night of pure, unadulterated indulgence. Ditch the diet and eat the carbs! Whether you’re home alone, hanging with friends, or spending the night with a certain someone, make it a proper cheat night filled with all your favourites. Let the way to your heart be through your belly.
